The Jones Act is a Federal statute which provides a remedy for sailors (or workers with a substantial connection to a ship) for injuries or death resulting from the negligence of the owner of a ship, his agent or a fellow member of the crew. Remedies under the Jones Act typically include: past and future medical expenses, lost earning capacity, pain and suffering, and pre-judgment interest.
