To protect the creative work product of writers, Federal law allows an original manuscript, writing, poem, song, play, book, or any original idea that has or potentially has commercial value to be protected from use or claim of creation by another. The author may simply copyright the work by appropriately marking it as being copyrighted, however in order to achieve better protection in the event of a breach of the copyright, it is necessary to record the copyright.
